The Roundup

Three interesting articles and videos! The first one is an article from one of our amazing trainers here at Athletic Kulture!

An article from our very own Lisa English! Lisa is a trainer and nutritionist here at Athletic Kulture and has written a great article on the impact of gluten.

This is a 16 minute video by Anthony Vicino and its worth every minute. Even if you dont agree with the mental models he presents, it at the very least forces you to question your own line of thinking, which makes it worth it right there.

Me putting this video up here is not me saying that you need to sacrifice these 15 things to be rich. I am putting this up here to question if you want to be rich in the first place.

This Week’s Easy Win: Schedule “Do Not Disturb” Time

Between imessages, slack, team notifications, social media, and endless emails, staying focused can feel like an Olympic sport. This week’s easy win? Carve out some “Do Not Disturb” time to go off the grid (just for a bit) and get stuff done. Think of it as finally giving yourself the opportunity to get real work done.

Why It Works

Constant interruptions don’t just break your focus, they drain your energy faster than my coffee disappearing on a Monday morning. Every time you switch tasks, your brain has to recalibrate, and all those little distractions stack up. But with a bit of scheduled silence, you can dive deep, get in the zone, and finish a task without the “Did I leave the stove on?” level of mental exhaustion.

How to Set Up Your “Do Not Disturb” Time

Pick a time window where you go full focus mode. Here’s the plan:

  • Mute notifications: Silence your phone, close those 50 open tabs, and give emails the cold shoulder.

  • Set the vibe: If music helps, throw on something non-distracting (cue the instrumental beats or good old white noise… I have spotify playlist suggestions if anyone needs them).

  • Choose one task: Pick a single task that needs your attention and stick to it. Treat it like a mini mission—just you, the task, and zero distractions.

If you’re worried people will think you vanished, let them know you’re in “focus mode” and will return to civilization shortly.

Making It a Habit

Start with one “Do Not Disturb” block each day. As you get used to it, you’ll see how nice it is to actually finish tasks without 800 interruptions. Soon, you might even start looking forward to these silent blocks (weird, but true).

Build Your Focus Muscles

Think of this as gym time for your brain. Each time you practice “Do Not Disturb” mode, you’re building up focus muscles. The more you train, the better you’ll get at tuning out distractions on command—no sweat required.

Boost the big 3

  1. Boost your fitness- Sneak In More Steps. Getting in extra steps each day is one of the easiest ways to boost your fitness without a full workout. Aim to take small opportunities to move more. This could be parking farther away, take the stairs instead of the elevator, or even pace while you’re on a call. You’d be surprised how quickly those steps add up! Not only does walking improve cardiovascular health, but it also gives your mind a break and boosts energy. Challenge yourself to hit a step goal this week—it’s a simple way to stay active that doesn’t require any special equipment.

  2. Boost your productivity- Declutter Your Digital Space. We’re all guilty of letting digital clutter pile up—emails we’ll “reply to later,” old files we can’t remember saving, and random apps we forgot we downloaded. Take a few minutes to clear out that digital chaos: tidy up your desktop, organize those folders, and archive the emails you’ll never read. It’s a quick mental boost that makes your workspace feel less like a digital junk drawer, keeps you organized, and actually helps you find things without a scavenger hunt.

  3. Boost your life- Create a Daily Highlight. Each day, pick one thing to be your “highlight”—something you’re looking forward to or that feels meaningful. It could be a workout, time with friends, or even your favorite meal. Focusing on one positive moment each day helps you stay present, boosts happiness, and turns each day into something special, and honestly, each day should be special.

That’s it for this week’s issue of The Kulture!

Remember, every step forward, no matter how small, is a win. Whether you’re crushing it in the gym, tackling your to-do list, or carving out time for your own growth, these little moves are building something big. Keep showing up, stay focused, and trust that the work you’re putting in now is laying the foundation for the future you want.

Thanks for being part of this journey, let’s go make this week count!
